Private garden visit in Budleigh Salterton
Sorry this event is cancelled!
A private garden with lots of history!
If interested contact for more details.
A small country estate on the outskirts of Budleigh Salterton. Originally a Queen Anne farmhouse to which was added a three storey Georgian house around 1800. The Palladian pillars and two single storey wings were added later. The conservatory was built in 1900 and houses a collection of flowering pot plants, orange trees and bougainvilleas. An extensive formal garden and 10 acres of woodland surround the house, inspired by the Saville Gardens at Windsor with mass plantings of camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas, which include many rare varieties. There is a traditional walled garden filled with fruit and vegetables, a herb garden, a bog garden, a rose garden and a hydrangea collection. Daffodils and primroses carpet the glades, later followed by a mass planting of bluebells. A labyrinth of paths leads from one discovery to the next in this beautiful setting. Upon our arrival the owners have kindly offered to give a short history of the house and garden.
