A chance double flowered seedling discovered by hellebore breeder John Dudley of Elizabeth Town Nursery, near Deloraine, Tasmania, whilst clearing a large group of single flowered white hellebores. Selected by John and named for renowned Tasmania plantswoman and friend of the introducer, Betty Ranicar, who gardened at Red Hill Farm, Deloraine, Tasmania. Vigorous, floriferous and a very beautiful form.
