Talk: 11 June 6.30pm - finish at 8.30pm

Michael Marriott is head Rosarian at David Austin Roses, who hold the National Collection of Rosa (English Roses bred by David Austin, and is one of the world’s most respected rose experts. He is also well known for his rose garden designs and his common sense approach to gardening. In his work he often travels the globe, sharing his expertise in lively radio, TV, newspaper and magazine interviews.

Catherine Penny: After studying engineering science and horticulture, Catherine founded and ran a nursery specialising in old fashioned roses and complementary foliage plants in Lancashire.  After selling the nursery, she and her husband created a garden out of the former rose fields at their home Dutton Hall, and hold the National Collection of Rosa (Hybrid Musk intro. by Pemberton & Bentall 1912-1939).  She is currently a Plant Heritage Trustee and Chairman of the North West Group.

Henry Robinson tell us: Farmers are notoriously impatient gardeners and Henry says he is no exception. Fortunately he was clever enough to marry an extremely good gardener who combines impeccable taste and vision with an endless capacity for hard work. Outside the garden and the National Plant Collection of Rosa (rambling), he enjoys an outdoor life with many sports and pastimes, including tennis, cricket, fishing and falconry all of which he enjoys hugely, without showing any particular talent for any of them.'
