Welcome to the Sussex group
We're an enthusiastic group of people who are passionate about plants. We support the 39 National Plant Collections in Sussex, including a shared Collection of Narcissus (daffodil) cultivars introduced by Noel Burr which is looked after by group members. Read on for our newsletters and more information about local Sussex nurseries.
Lots of our members take part in the Plant Guardian scheme and the annual Plant Exchange, sharing and receiving interesting, unusual and rare plants but it's not compulsory. We hold lectures, visits and events on topics of horticultural interest, organise plant fairs and help the charity nationally with displays and events, such as the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and the RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival.
We are always keen to welcome new members to the group and volunteers who would like to help organise activities and events - please get in touch with our Membership Secretary (details below or click here).
As well as the charity's national newsletters and publications, we also send out two Sussex group newsletters each year giving details of talks, events, visits, articles written by our National Collection Holders and other topics of interest. You can read the spring 2024 edition here.
We like to support our local independent Sussex nurseries - Sussex specialist nurseries 2025 PLUS: how to decipher a Plant Passport label.
