Description

The collection began in 1948 and has proved to be a good site for a wide range of Quercus taxa. The free-draining deep sand or sandy loam is suitable for many oaks. Rain falls (40-80mm) on average 10 days per month, temperature ranges from 2-22°C. A fairly level site falling away to the river basin at the western end with a shelterbelt to the north.
