Kim is a gardener, grower and floral designer at a top studio in Cambridge. She has hosted floristry workshops for BBC Gardeners World and a regular speaker at Gardeners World Live, Spring and Autumn shows. She is also a Garden Designer and won a Gold Medal for her first show garden at BBC Gardeners World Autumn Fair. She is a regular contributor to local radio and a columnist for Amateur Gardening Magazine. Her passion is growing and showing dahlias, she grows over 200 varieties at her home, field and allotment.  

A fantastic talk by renowned Clematis grower and breeder and long time friend of Plant Heritage, Raymond Evison CBE VMH FLS FCI Hort. This promises to be a highly informative and fascinating lecture for anyone who loves plants or history - one not to be missed.

Ángela Cano is the Deputy Curator of Cambridge University Botanic Garden. She conducts field expeditions, developing bioinformatics tools, analyzing data, and more. She trained as a botanist in one of the most biodiverse countries—Colombia—where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then developed her expertise in plant systematics and biogeography during her Master’s studies at the University of Geneva (Switzerland), where she revised the genus Trithrinax Mart. and worked at the Geneva Herbarium on the detection and digitization of type specimens. Also in Geneva, she completed her Ph.D., which focused on phylogenomics, bioinformatics, and biogeography. Ángela uses palms as models to understand how the tropical Americas became the hyperdiverse region they are today. She has conducted intensive fieldwork in ten countries, exploring biodiversity hotspots such as the Amazon, the Andes, the Caribbean, and the Richtersveld. She also researches the dynamics of living plant collections at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden.
