Plant Heritage North East are a friendly, sociable group, where you will find a wealth of knowledge about garden plants
We have monthly talks from October to May in St Mary’s Parish Centre in Ponteland, near Newcastle. We have a varied programme of events and visits throughout the year, including plant sales and fairs in the summer months.
Events include a Specialist Plant Fair at Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens, to which we invite a range of local nurseries and plant related craft stalls. We also have plant stalls selling members’ plants at events around our region, plus occasional trips to gardens and nurseries.
We encourage members to be active participants in plant conservation by growing one or more plants from the National Collection of Physocarpus that we hold as a group.
We also run an active plant propagation group to provide stock for our plant stalls and increase the availability of rare plants. Our members participate in the Plant Heritage Plant Exchange and the Plant Guardian Scheme.
We have our own Facebook group too
North East Group's Propagation Team at work.
