Can your legacy help us maintain our legacy?
Leaving a legacy to Plant Heritage
The National Plant Collections® are a vital living library that benefits us all. Each National Collection can be the work of a lifetime - or more. Today's collectors are building on decades and perhaps hundreds of years of expert breeding and careful nurturing. We work to protect the plants, and the information about the plants, which we store securely in our award winning plant records system Persephone.
As a small charity, we rely on our members and donors to fund our work. You can help us to ensure that future generations benefit from this work by leaving a gift to Plant Heritage in your will.
In recent years, generous legacies have helped us to invest for the future, including:
- holding workshops and other educational events, so we can share information about the National Collections as well as green skills like seed collecting, propagation and record keeping
- recruiting and supporting more volunteers, who work alongside our small team of paid staff to support the incredible work done by National Collection holders
- recruiting a dedicated plant records officer and expanding our digital plant records system, Persephone, which keeps information about plants in the National Collections and the Plant Guardian scheme safe for the future
- updating our website and our office IT systems, so they are easier to use and more secure, as well as saving significant staff time (which is vital with such a small team).
- creating engaging displays at flower shows and other public events, so we can educate people about our work and why it matters, and recruit more members and supporters to carry this forwards.
There is plenty more we want to do, including to create an online version of the National Plant Collections so people all over the world can enjoy them and learn about them, along with the stories about the people behind the plants. Can you help us by donating today, or leaving a legacy in your will?
