Synonym: Colquhounia coccinea var. vestita Wall.Prain
Description:
Discovered in Western China and the Himalayas, this plant is named after Sir Robert Colquhoun, a soldier and plant collector. It grows as a tall, upright shrub with terminal spikes of flowers up to 2.5 cm long. It thrives in coastal and mild areas of the UK but may struggle in harsh winters and early frosts. It could survive in other regions with wall protection or a favorable micro-climate, but cold winters can be detrimental. The plant tolerates temperatures as low as -5°C.
