Plant Guardians

Leonurus quinquelobatus Gilib.

Description:

Perennial herbaceous plant native to Eurasia, ranging from Sakhalin, Russia, to Italy and central Europe, including Krym to NW Iran. Growing in temperate biomes, it reaches about 1 m tall and prefers part sun in moisture-retentive soil. The plant has robust foliage with a purple flush later in the year; lower leaves are five-lobed with soft hairs. Pink-lilac, two-lipped tubular flowers bloom July–September in leaf axil rosettes, and seed heads provide winter interest.
