Aspidistra oblanceifolia ‘Nagoya Stars’
Synonym: Aspidistra oblanceifolia ‘Nagoya Stars’ (v)
Description:
Originating from central and southern China, this selection was first recorded in 1982 from Guizhou, Hubei and Sichuan. Chosen in Japan for its striking foliage and later introduced to the West by plantsman Ted Stephens, it forms clumps of upright, glossy dark green leaves heavily speckled with cream-yellow spots, creating a starry effect. Small reddish-purple flowers appear at ground level in late winter to spring.
