Aeschynanthus pulcher (Blume) G.Don AGM


Description:

Known as the red bugle vine or lipstick plant, it is a tropical evergreen climber from Southeast Asia, introduced to cultivation in 1845. Growing to about 75cm tall, it has aerial-rooting stems with glossy dark green oval leaves around 4.5cm long. From summer to winter it produces terminal clusters of hooded bright red tubular flowers up to 6cm long, each with a contrasting yellow throat.
