Aster amellus ‘Gründer’

Description:

Paul Picton of Old Court Nurseries, a long-time collection holder of asters, described ‘Gründer’ in The Plantsman (2005, V4,P3) as an outstanding cultivar, noted for its tall stems, large flower heads, and excellent qualities as a cut flower. Large lilac-blue blooms, up to 7cm wide from late August. Mildew-resistant. Notes from the 2007 German Perennial Plant Nurseries evaluation group suggest it was a selection by gardener Fritz Gründer of Emmental, Switzerland.
