Rosa ‘Arthur de Sansal’
Description:
Bred in France by Scipion Cochet before 1855 and named after amateur rosarian Robert Arthur Sanson de Sansal. Thought to be a seedling of 'Géant des Batailles', it bears full, cupped blooms of dark red ageing to violet, produced in small clusters with repeat flowering after the main flush. A thorny shrub growing 90–120cm tall, it is variously classified as a Portland, Damask Perpetual, or Hybrid Perpetual rose.
