Hedera helix ‘Teardrop’
Description:
American Ivy Society Ivy of the Year 2002, this compact heart-leaved ivy has glossy, teardrop-shaped foliage and a refined, upright habit. Leaves are mostly unlobed with a heart-shaped base and elongated tips, though occasional lobing may occur. Slow-growing with stiff branching, its distinctive form is thought to result from a fasciated petiole. Said to be discovered at Terrace View Gardens, Greencastle, Indiana, USA, it was formally described and named ‘Teardrop’ by botanist Bess L. Shippy.
