Iris ‘Cinnabar’ (TB)


Synonyms: Iris ‘Cinnabarr’, Iris ‘Cinnebar’

Description:

Introduced 1928 by Edward Bruce Williamson of Bluffton, Indiana, naturalist and authority on dragonflies. A tall bicoloured iris with amethyst-violet standards above velvety prune-purple falls, giving a rich dark red effect. Williamson, considered one of America's great iris breeders, began hybridising around 1906 and later focused on bearded irises at his Longfield Iris Farm. He introduced many influential varieties valued for vigour and garden performance.
