Iris 'Al-Lu-We' (TB)
Description:
A tall bearded iris with yellow standards, red-maroon falls, and an orange-to-deep-yellow beard, bred by Hans Peter Sass in 1932. Noted for its gigantic, crinkly-petaled flowers, it is a late bloomer with perfectly branched stalks. A seedling of Dykes Medal winner ‘Rameses’, it features molten bronze ruffled standards and variegated falls. Sass (1868–1949), a German-American hybridiser, transformed iris breeding, earning AIS hybridiser honours and introducing numerous award-winning varieties.
