Iris ‘Superba’ (Sib)


Description:

Said to be introduced in 1903 by Barr & Sons which was founded 1860 by Peter Barr, V.M.H. (1825-1909) as Barr & Sugdon. Relocating and changing in 1882 to Barr & Sons, it relocated again in 1911. Renowned for daffodil catalogues, they also maintained an extensive collection of irises with many of French origin introduced throughout the 1870s and 1880s. His son Peter Rudolph Barr, V.M.H. joined the business in 1878 hybridising daffodils and studying irises, hellebores & single peonies.
