Symphyotrichum novi-belgii ‘Coombe Margaret’
Description:
An introduction from Ronald Watts c.1960 with large, double, pale pink mid-season flowers. Mr Watts was renowned for his breeding of asters and delphiniums, being awarded the RHS Associateship of Honour 1985 in recognition of this. He worked across several gardens in the Surrey area, and it is possible the Coombe cultivars are named in association with Templecoombe, East Grinstead, where he worked as head gardener for Mrs S.C. Fawell.
