Apodasmia similis (Edgar) B.G.Briggs & L.A.S.Johnson
Description:
Endemic to New Zealand, this rush-like species occurs throughout both the North and South Islands, particularly in coastal dunes, salt marshes and estuaries. It was first described by Elizabeth Edgar as Leptocarpus similis and reclassified as Apodasmia similis in 1998 by Barbara Briggs and Lawrie Johnson. Forming dense clumps of upright grey-green stems with a graceful, architectural habit, it is well adapted to exposed coastal conditions and wet soils.
