Arisaema ternatipartitum Makino
Description:
First published in 1901 by the Japanese botanist Tomitaro Makino, this species is native to southern Honshu, Shikoku and northern Kyushu in Japan. Growing in temperate woodland habitats, it emerges in spring from a small underground tuber, producing distinctive red-brown hooded flowers before the leaves unfurl. The attractive foliage consists of two leaves divided into rounded leaflets, giving the plant a refined appearance well suited to shaded gardens.
