Crinum × powellii ‘Harlemense’
Synonyms: Crinum powellii var. harlemense, Crinum × powellii ‘Haarlemense’
Description:
A lighter pink than the typical form of the species it is said to have been bred by Krelage & Sons from Haarlem, the Netherlands. Described in Herbetia Vol 1-5 1934-1938 (Ed, Traub) as a soft-rose hybrid of C. longifolium × C. moorei, praised by specialists as highly decorative for the garden. The Hon Henry D McLaren of North Wales (2nd Baron Aberconway of Bodnant Garden), wrote of Crinum 'Haarlemense' in the American Amaryllis Society Yearbook ,1935 pg 92, as a superior form.
