Hemerocallis ‘Daisy McCarthy’
Description:
An introduction from Canadian-born David Hall who moved to Illinois where he shared an interest in hybridising irises and daylilies with Orville Fay. Hall bred pink daylilies from H. fulva var. rosea, culminating in H. ‘May Hall’ (1957), which won the Stout Silver Medal (1969). He registered 574 hybrids, 27 earning AHS Awards of Merit. He later partnered with Gilbert H. Wild & Son Nursery for introducing plants that he had bred. He received the 1956 Bertrand Farr Silver Medal.
