Philadelphus ‘Favorite’


Synonym: Philadelphus × polyanthus ‘Favorite’

Description:

According to the US Journal of the Arnold Arboretum dated 1956 there were two forms growing in the arboretum from different sources since 1919 & 1943; from Rochester Park Dept. and H. Kohankie Nursery, Painsville respectively. The article states the origin of this plant is unknown, however it is described as a loosely termed 'Lemonei hybrid' in 1928 by EH Wilson in More Aristocrats of the Garden pg. 155 and The Hillier Manual of Trees & Shrubs describes it as a Lemoine introduction circa 1916.
