Iris ‘Witchery’ (TB)


Description:

Bred by Olive Murrell (1889-1957) of Orpington Nurseries, Kent and registered in 1929. Murrell was registrar for the British Iris Society and a long-term member of over 20 years. A tall, bearded midseason flowering iris which along with ‘Wraith’ & ‘Trieste’ represents some of Murrell’s work on breeding yellow blends. Murrell was awarded the Foster Memorial Plaque in 1935, for recognition of contribution to the advancement of the Genus, and won a Dykes Medal in 1940 for her I. 'White City'.
