Description:
Tall, bulbous perennial from the Western Cape of South Africa, growing up to 2 m with spikes of pink, trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom for 4–5 weeks in late spring. It thrives on rocky sandstone or well-drained clay, granite, and sandy slopes, often flowering abundantly after fire. Pollinated by solitary bees, it provides nectar for insects and birds. Hardy in mild frost, it is best propagated by lifting and dividing corms every 3–5 years.
