Billbergia ‘Santa Barbara’ (v)
Description:
A garden-origin hybrid, probably between Billbergia nutans and Billbergia distachia, known in cultivation since before 1962. Originally grown in the garden of Madame Ganna Walska in California, it forms compact rosettes of stiff, variegated leaves. Mature plants produce pendulous pink, purple and yellow flowers, and it is valued for its ornamental foliage and surprising tolerance of cool conditions when grown with overhead protection.
