Arisaema speciosum var. mirabile (Schott) Engl.
Description:
First published in 1879 by the botanists Alphonse de Candolle and Anne Casimir de Candolle, this striking Himalayan cobra lily is native from Nepal eastwards to north-western Yunnan in China. It grows in cool temperate mountain habitats, emerging annually from an underground tuber. Renowned for its dramatic hooded flowers and long, tail-like spadix, it is among the most distinctive members of this remarkable group of Asian woodland plants.
