Berkheya ‘Helios’

Description:

A rare garden hybrid believed to have been discovered by Scottish plantsman Michael Wickenden in the south-eastern Drakensberg near the Lesotho border in 1997. Thought to be a cross between Berkheya macrocephala and Berkheya multijuga, it was first introduced commercially in 2016. It bears large golden-yellow flowers above grey, cobwebby, spiny foliage and is regarded as one of the finest Berkheya cultivars in cultivation.
