Astilbe ‘To Have and To Hold’
Description:
Said to be bred by Dutch breeder Henk van der Meer and introduced by Darwin Perennials in 2008 and is protected under plant breeders’ rights. Its exact parentage is unknown, typical of modern breeding focused on performance rather than recorded lineage. It belongs to the Arends-type group, ultimately derived from early 20th-century work by Georg Arends, who crossed East Asian woodland species. This selection continues that tradition with a compact habit, dark foliage, and improved adaptability.
