Description:
Native to southern Mozambique, Eswatini and KwaZulu-Natal, this subtropical orchid grows in shaded forests and forest margins, occurring as both a terrestrial and lithophytic herb on boulders, stream banks and sandstone cliffs. Typically reaching 30–60cm tall, it forms a basal rosette of long, narrow leaves and produces racemes of 50–80 lilac flowers with darker spots. It thrives in partial to deep shade and is widely cultivated as an ornamental.
