Pelargonium ‘Brilliant’ (Dec)
Description:
Established Victorian cultivar, cited in The Journal of Horticulture, Cottage Gardener & Country Gentleman, 1861. Its use in William Nesfield’s plans for a Victorian garden demonstrates its popularity in mid-19th-century ornamental gardening. It was also recorded in Georges von der Decken’s Der Blumengarten und seine Unterhaltung, highlighting it was known in continental Europe. Its original breeder and introduction date remain uncertain, but it was certainly cultivated by 1861.
