Abutilon ‘Boule de Neige’


Description:

Thought to be a 1876 introduction from Switzerland listed in Froebel & Co catalogue No. 83, Jan 1877 as a 'select collection of plants from our own harvest'. Theodor Froebel (1810-1893) was innovative in establishing commercial nursery production in Zurich founding the nursery in 1835 and later involved his son Otto Froebel (1844–1906). The Gardeners Chronicle of 1879 (Nov 8 pg 596) describes it as outstanding growing in the intermediate houses at Chiswick.
