Acer oblongum
Description:
Described in Trees & Shrubs Hardy in the British Isles (Bean, 1976) as tender, this species was first introduced in 1824. A hardier form was collected by Ernest H. Wilson in 1901. Native to the Himalayas and south and west China, this species displays variable leaves. A moderately hard, close-grained wood often used for implements, the leaves are said to be used in storage around apples & root crops to increase storage life.
