Iris ‘Crusader’ (TB)

Description:

Historic tall bearded iris introduced by Sir Michael Foster in 1913. A cross involving Iris cypriana, it bears very large flowers with pale blue standards, deep violet-blue falls, and an orange-yellow beard. Praised for its colour, form, and heavy-textured petals, it received a Royal Horticultural Society High Commendation in 1916 and was regarded as one of the finest early blue irises, though sometimes noted as a slow grower.
