Heliotropium arborescens ‘Lord Roberts’
Description:
Masha Bennett (2002) in Pulmonaria and the Borage Family describes 'Lord Roberts' as having a 'small habit with soft violet, scented flowers'. Recorded as early as 1900 in the 7 July edition of The Garden*. It was listed in the planting plan for the 'Fragrant Garden' at The Goddards Garden, Dringhouses, York, dated 22nd April 1928 and was later recorded in the 1950s as Heliotropium peruvianum 'Lord Roberts'.
* The Garden was a weekly journal of gardening, published in London from 1871-1927.
