Artemisia vallesiaca
Synonym: Seriphidium vallesiacum
Description:
Artemisia vallesiaca was first described in 1773 in Auct. Syn. Meth. Stirp. Hort. Regii Taur. Its native range is SE France, SW Switzerland, and NW Italy on calcareous alpine slopes at 500–1000 m. It is a woody-based aromatic subshrub in the Asteraceae family, forming low clumps to 30 cm tall with finely divided grey-white woolly leaves and narrow panicles of small yellow flower heads in summer, adapted to dry sunny rocky alpine habitats.
