Begonia ‘Erythrophylla Helix’
Description:
Begonia ‘Erythrophylla Helix’ is a cultivated sport of Begonia erythrophylla, introduced in the 1950s, not a wild species. It arose in horticulture from rhizomatous begonias. It forms a low, mounding plant with creeping rhizomes and glossy dark green leaves with a spiral (helix-like) attachment and red undersides. Pale pink flowers appear in late winter to spring. It is grown mainly for its distinctive foliage rather than a natural native origin.
