Watsonia pillansii apricot-flowered
Synonym: Watsonia ‘Apricot’
Description:
A paler apricot form, the species is bright orange. Native to the eastern half of southern Africa. Prefers elevations from coastal areas up to 2,400 m, growing in mixed grassland and exposed rocky sites, where it forms clumps and occasionally large colonies. Sima Eliovson, South African garden writer, wrote in 1968 that the Watsonia Beatrice Hybrids were various natural forms of W. pillansii exported to UK, USA and Australia in the early 1900s.
