Narcissus ‘Empress’ (1)


Description:

Mid-season historic daffodil, 1 W-Y [Trumpet Long-Cupped], grows 32.5–67.5 cm and was hybridised by William Backhouse in England before 1869. A cross of N. bicolor × N. pseudonarcissus, it has 103 mm wide flowers with ovate, slightly mucronate perianth overlapping a third, and a narrowly funnel-shaped, ribbed yellow corona with a 6-lobed, lightly frilled, flanged rim. Resembles a larger, later-flowering ‘Horsfieldii’ and a smaller ‘Emperor’.
