Iris ‘Canary Bird’ (TB)
Description:
Introduced in 1957 by Kelway and Son, Ltd., ‘Canary Bird’ is a Tall Bearded iris (38 in / 97 cm), midseason flowering, lemon-yellow self (Class Y1L), from ‘Berkeley Gold’ × unknown. Shown in the 1957 Wisley Trial. Not to be confused with the dwarf bearded ‘Canary Bird’ introduced by Amos Perry, 1903.
Founded in 1851, Kelways of Langport became a world-renowned nursery (c.1880–1920), noted for hybridising iris and other ornamentals, later famed for its ‘Langport’ series.
