Description:
Early- to mid-season 2 W-Y (Large-Cupped) daffodil, 32.5–67.5 cm tall, hybridised by William Backhouse, England and registered before 1869, part of the ADS Historics. Usually sterile with no descendants, it has star-shaped flowers with ovate, acute, slightly wavy perianth segments. The long, ribbed cup-shaped corona is straight-mouthed and loosely frilled. Likely named from the Latin “stella”, meaning star.
