Viola cornuta f. violacaea
Description:
A spreading evergreen perennial or subshrub native to the high Pyrenees (Spain/France), growing in montane pastures. It has lance-shaped, egg-shaped leaves in a basal rosette and large, deeply divided stipules. In its native habitat, it produces light violet, long-spurred flowers (up to 4cm) with a distinctive upward spur, blooming in spring and summer. Adaptable to full sun or partial shade and various soils, it is prized for its fragrance and colourful markings.
