Astrantia major ‘Bo-ann’

Synonyms: Astrantia ‘Bo-ann’, Astrantia major ‘Bo-ann’

Description:

A selected cultivar of a European native species long found in damp meadows and woodland edges, cultivated in gardens since the 16th–17th centuries for its distinctive pincushion flowers. Modern selections were bred from natural variation to improve colour, form, and garden performance. This form is an introduction from Holland circa 1999. It forms a compact clump, producing long-lasting soft dusty pink flower heads with green tones from spring into summer, typically 30–60cm tall.
