Androsace carnea alba
Description:
Selected from a species native to the high mountains of the western Alps and eastern Pyrenees, 'Alba' grows in habitats above 1,900 metres where plants endure rocky screes, turf and acidic soils. It forms compact tufts of small rosettes with narrow, pointed leaves and, unlike the typical pink-flowered forms, produces pure white, cup-shaped flowers with a yellow eye. Its alpine origins make it well suited to sharply drained soils and rock garden conditions.
