Description:
The rush-leaved bird of paradise is a perennial herb is distinguished by its upright cylindrical leaves lacking a leaf blade and its boat-shaped spathes bearing orange sepals and blue petals. Native to the southern Cape Provinces of South Africa, it grows naturally amongst drought-resistant shrubs in the subtropical biome. Reaching up to 2m tall, it thrives in full sun with well-drained soils, tolerates prolonged dry conditions, and is widely cultivated as an ornamental and cut flower.
