Penstemon ‘Peace’

Description:

Cited in A Gardener's Guide to Growing Penstemons (Way & James 1998)  as recorded at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh in 1985, this was possibly at the Logan site. They also state that the Scottish firm of John Forbes of Hawick had listed a plant of the same name and description in the 1870s, but not since and remain doubtful they could be the same plant. The firm existed from 1870 until 1968 eventually becoming the biggest grower in the world and had offered 550 cultivars by 1900.
