Phlox paniculata ‘Dresden China’
Description:
Said to be a 1947 introduction from Captain Bertram Hanmer Bunbury Symons-Jeune (1883-1959), a renowned hybridiser of Phlox. Described in his Phlox monograph from 1954 as later flowering, tall and floriferous with well-formed flower heads of exquisite clear shell-pink colour; the eye colour deepens with age. Born in Old Windsor, he lived initially in Marylebone, and Egham, before eventually settling in Cornwall. He introduced his hybrids through James Baker’s Nursery at Codsall.
