Description:
Growing on coastal rock outcrops, scrub and lagoon margins of the Chatham Islands, this threatened evergreen shrub is commonly known as Dieffenbach's koromiko. It forms a spreading to erect shrub up to 3m tall with leathery, lance-shaped leaves and dense spikes of numerous small white to pale purplish flowers in summer, followed by fruit from January to April. It grows best in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soils and has been introduced to Great Britain and Ireland.
