Description:
Commonly known as twinkling star, this temperate perennial is native to Japan and Korea, where it grows in woodland habitats on hills and mountains. Reaching 60–80cm tall, it produces lobed leaves, flushed bronze and purple in spring, and panicles or racemes of small flowers with prominent lavender to white stamens during summer. It grows best in semi-shade and moist, well-drained sandy, loamy or clay soils, and has also been reported from Russia, China and the USA.
